Now that you're joining UCLA's community of scholars, you will be facing a lot of decisions that will shape your college career. One of the first decisions you can make is to participate in the UCLA Orientation Program, and begin your university experience with enthusiasm and purpose.
Our Orientation sessions are designed to promote your academic achievement and personal development through individual counseling sessions, small group discussions, workshops and presentations. While at Orientation, all incoming students will have the opportunity to select and enroll in Fall Quarter 2007 classes. You will also plan a tentative Bachelor's Degree program in a major based upon your interests, aspirations, and preparation; develop a time plan and schedule based upon logistical demands, proposed courses, and extracurricular activities; take placement examinations; tour the campus; and learn how to use the University's many services and resources.
Part of the Orientation experience involves individual advising that will assess your skills, preparation and readiness to pursue various programs of study. Counselors at Orientation will help you prepare yourself academically for the coming year, review your college/school requirements, make recommendations for courses of study, and aid in the process of clarifying your career and educational goals.
Finally, Orientation will provide you with the opportunity to consider options for involvement in extracurricular activities such as recreational classes, intramural sports, student organizations, and entertainment.
We are pleased that you have chosen to attend UCLA and we are excited to see you this summer!
