Provost's/Dean’s Honors Lists
Provost's/Dean’s Honors Lists are automatically recorded and determined by your College or School office in the following manner:
Arts & Architecture and Theater, Film, and Television: require 12 graded units per quarter with a GPA of 3.8 for less than 16 units of work (3.7 GPA for 16 or more units). You are ineligible if in any quarter you receive a Not Passed (NP) or Incomplete grade (I), change a grade or repeat a course.
Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science: requires a GPA equal to or greater than 3.7 in any one term with a courseload of at least 15 units (minimum 12 units letter grade). A student is not eligible if that student receives an Incomplete (I) or a Not Passed (NP) grade or repeated a course in the term. Only courses which apply to a student’s undergraduate record will be considered toward the student’s eligibility for Dean’s Honors.
The College (Letters & Science): requires a 3.75 GPA in any one quarter with at least 12 graded units and no grade of NP or I, OR a 3.66 GPA and at least 16 grade points during the quarter, with no grade of NP or I.
Departmental Honors and Departmental Honor Societies are offered in most departments on campus. Consult each department for more information and eligibility requirements.
The Fourragere is a braid awarded at graduation and is worn on the shoulder with the cap and gown. The gold braid is awarded to students achieving Honors at graduation. The blue and gold braid is awarded to the recipients of the Chancellor’s Service Award.
