Obtain Your BruinCard
Make sure to bring your activated BruinCard (your UCLA Student ID card) to your Orientation session. You will need to apply for your BruinCard approximately 5 weeks prior to your Orientation session to receive your card before for you arrive.
To get a BruinCard, you will need to submit a signed BruinCard Terms & Conditions form and submit a passport quality photo. Follow the steps below to apply for and receive your BruinCard in the mail.
1) Take an appropriate photo
- a. Photograph must measure 2” by 2”.
- b. Write your student ID number on the back of the photo with a felt tip pen.
- c. Photograph must have your face on a white background (no group shots, profiles, hats, sunglasses, or expressions/gestures or any patterns in the background). Any business that takes passport photos would produce an acceptable photo. You can view acceptable photo samples here.
2) Sign and date the BruinCard Terms & Conditions form (click here for form)
3) Mail the Terms & Conditions form and photo to:

4) When you receive your card you must follow the instructions provided to activate your card.
If you do not have your BruinCard at Orientation, you will have an opportunity to get one, however it will be much easier to have it before your session.
Items You Should Have at Orientation
- All official records you have received from UCLA, including this confirmation
- A photo ID (e.g., a driver's license or student identification card)
- Your BruinCard - your student ID for UCLA (if you sent in a photo and had your BruinCard mailed back to you)
- Comfortable clothes and shoes, a pen, a #2 pencil
- Money (to pay for parking and/or any souvenirs)
- Copies of transcripts, test score results and catalogs from any post-high school institutions (to assist in planning your coursework for the Fall)
- Backpack or bag to carry items on campus
- First-year students only: toiletries, a towel, an alarm clock (sheets and a pillow will be provided)
IMPORTANT: Admissions must receive copies of your final official transcripts by July 15, 2009.
Important Information About Orientation Fees
Payments: Consult your reservation brochure for details on charges incurred by changing sessions, cancelling sessions or enrolling after the deadline. These charges will appear on your November 2009 UCLA
Billing and Accounts Receivable (BAR) statement along with all other Orientaton fees.
Partial Fee Waivers: Students who have:
1) Indicated on the online reservation form that they are eligible and interested in receiving a partial waiver of their Orientation fees;
2) Applied for financial aid through the Financial Aid Office;
3) Independent status with a student contribution equal to zero (as determined by the Financial Aid Office) OR dependent status with a student contribution equal to zero and a parental contribution equal to zero (as determined by the Financial Aid Office).

First-Year Students
Transportation options between Los Angeles International Airport and UCLA include travelling by Super-Shuttle, taxi, or bus.
Freeway Access to UCLA
Directions: Take the 405 Freeway to Sunset Blvd. and exit going east. Take Sunset Blvd. east to Bellagio Dr. (one light past Veteran Ave.) and turn right. Turn right at the first stop sign and right again into Lot 11.
Parking is available for $10.00 per day. You must purchase a parking permit for each day of Orientation.
We suggest you affix your parking permit(s) on your car immediately when you arrive. Your parking permit(s), for all days needed, may be obtained from a parking attendant at the entrance to Lot 11 between 7 and 9 a.m. Should you arrive late, please proceed to Lot 4 to acquire the necessary permits.
If you park in an unmetered space without a permit or at an expired meter, you will be ticketed. (A current citation is $42.00).

First-Year Sessions (101-111) Check-In Location
Check-in will take place outside the west entrance of Sproul Hall
When you park in Lot 11, you should first walk down to Rieber Terrace to check into your room and drop off your luggage. After you have checked into Rieber Terrace, you will want to walk down to Sproul Hall to check into Orientation. There will be staff members available to help you find the location.

Transfer Students
Freeway Access to UCLA
Directions: Take the 405 Freeway to Sunset Blvd. and exit going east. Take Sunset Blvd. east to Westwood Plaza (one light past Bellagio Dr.) and turn right. Turn right at the first stop sign and left into Lot 7.
Parking is available for $10.00 per day.

Transfer Sessions (201-207) Check-In Location

Royce Quad is not directly accessible by car. However, the check-in location is a short walk from Lot 7.
